The Leadership, Learning and Accountability department at Region 6 ESC is dedicated to provide data driven, TEKS aligned, and goal oriented professional learning opportunities. From general instruction to instructional leadership our programs and services support continuous growth and increased achievement in students, teachers, coaches, and administrators across the region.
Cooperative learning structures provide students with opportunities to be a viable part of a collaborative group, where they must work together with roles and deadlines as well as personalities and preferences. The Region 6 ESC Instructional Coaching Model provides research-based practices and sustainable protocols for improved instructional growth. The package includes:
communication with key stakeholders
observation with debrief
goal setting
virtual coaching with feedback
reflection of practice
Region 6 ESC provides a method of practice, carried out by education professionals, in order to improve teaching and learning. Instructional Rounds include a problem of practice, observations, analysis, prediction, improvement, and links to change. School districts will select participants to observe in real-world classrooms in order to determine factual information that links to campus trends.
This methodology was created by members of the Harvard Graduate School of Education and is based on the model explained in the book Instructional Rounds in Education. This disciplined and collaborative process connects student data to practice and leads to system-wide improvement.
When student assessments are complete, what are the next steps?
Data will be disaggregated to determine specific campus needs using the Region 6 ESC data analysis process which includes pinpointing students’ current overall mastery level, analyzing how far students are from a set goal, identifying students who are on and not on track to meet growth measures, determining specific standards for each student to support meeting growth measures and involving student in setting individual goals. Once data analysis has occurred, teams will be guided through instructional reteach planning strategies that will result in targeted lesson plans which address the needs of all learners.
This year-long academy will create a sustainable framework for success in the areas of classroom management, routines and procedures, and developing effective lesson plans. Let’s give our teachers with zero to two years of experience a profound beginning with hopes of retaining a quality educator for years to come.
Join Region 6 ESC as we guide your campus teams through the creation, establishment, and implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Collaborative practices and critical components will be paired with a systematic design for campus implementation. This learning experience will demonstrate how to gather and analyze data while working as a team to impact and improve teaching and student success.
Region 6 ESC’s PLC training is designed for year-long implementation with specific professional learning sessions, resource materials, and implementation support.
Join Region 6 ESC as we guide campuses through our Small Group Instructional Framework. This process will support differentiation, student grouping, station activities, and data analysis in the classroom. Researched-based protocols, expectations, and models will be clearly defined along with a multi-step system for implementation.
The Teacher Leadership Academy focuses on building capacity and developing leadership skills with classroom teachers. This year-long academy includes six sessions and a risk-taking opportunity. Teachers are recommended by campus administrators for participation in this program.
