ADVANCED ACADEMIC SERVICES (GT)

The Advanced Academic Services will provide a variety of activities to enable districts to identify and serve gifted students, K-12. Services include both technical assistance and professional development activities.

Technical assistance can be provide on-site, via phone, email, DL, or webinars. The types of technical assistance provided but are not limited to are: assistance with program needs assessments, long-range planning and development of the District GT Plan, effective teaching practices, resources and instructional materials, TEA updates/information dissemination, and student assessments and identification process.

Professional development is provided face-to-face and on-line. Face-to-face trainings are provided at districts sites and at the ESC Professional Development Center in Huntsville. Topics may include but are not limited to: the 30 hour institute for teacher prior to teaching GT students, 6 hour administrator/counselor training, and the yearly 6 hour update for teacher in special topics in teaching the GT student.
