Our goal is to provide information and important updates regarding state-level decision making, current research, innovative classroom ideas and upcoming professional learning opportunities to support the needs of Early Childhood teachers and administrators in Region 6.
EARLY CHILDHOOD COLLABORATIVE
The Region 6 Early Childhood Collaborative provides professional services for prekindergarten and kindergarten educators. This program assists teachers, coaches, and administrators in understanding and implementing the High-Quality Prekindergarten Program requirements, Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, and the kindergarten TEKS while providing professional learning opportunities for prekindergarten and kindergarten teachers to gain knowledge for improving classroom instruction and student success.
PRE-K OUTCOMES FRAMEWORK
This online platform is designed to support early childhood educators in their efforts to provide high-quality instruction and learning for their young students. The framework includes a sequence and scope of content based on the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines. Utilizing the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines as a foundation, this framework is aligned with the Kindergarten Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). It provides early childhood educators with content and sequencing clarification and unpacks the Prekindergarten End-of-Year Outcomes. As a result, the Pre-K Outcomes Framework facilitates developmentally appropriate planning and instruction to help prepare all children for success in kindergarten and beyond.
PREKINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN
ASSESSMENT AND DATA SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All state-funded public school districts and charter schools are required to implement one of the Student Progress Monitoring Assessments from the Commissioner’s List and electronically report prekindergarten and kindergarten data through the ECDS Data System.
Please be advised that TEA has released requirements for reporting your beginning of the year kindergarten screening data. The information is contained in the TAA Letter from TEA.
