Third-Party CDL Skills Testing – Texas DPS (Class B)
Our Third-Party CDL Skills Testing Program offers a convenient, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)–approved option for individuals seeking to earn or upgrade a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL). All testing is conducted by DPS-certified third-party examiners and follows all Texas DPS standards and procedures.
Testing is available for:

ELDT & FMCSA Requirements
Applicants subject to Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements must have successfully completed ELDT theory training and the required behind-the-wheel (road and range) training prior to skills testing.
In addition, applicants must be listed in the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR) for the applicable license class and endorsements no less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled testing date. Applicants who do not meet ELDT and TPR requirements will not be permitted to test.
Vehicle Options & Fees
Applicants may choose to provide their own testing vehicle or utilize an ESC-provided vehicle.
Applicant-Provided Vehicle

$150 – First testing attempt

$100 – Second and third testing attempts
Applicant-provided vehicles must meet all Texas DPS safety requirements, and all required documentation must be submitted prior to testing. Failure to provide a compliant vehicle or proper documentation may result in cancellation or rescheduling.
ESC-Provided Vehicle

$250 – First testing attempt

$200 – Second and third testing attempts
When utilizing an ESC-provided vehicle, the Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements are required. Testing will include the appropriate endorsement knowledge level and skills components associated with passenger and school bus operation. A school bus is provided for testing under this option.

We offer convenient scheduling options to meet the needs of school districts, transportation departments, and individual applicants.
Upon successful completion, test results are submitted in accordance with Texas DPS procedures, allowing applicants to proceed with license issuance at a DPS Driver License Office.
