Adult Education Services in the Gulf Coast Region

The ESC Region 6 Adult Education Department serves as the Lead Agency for the Houston–Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Consortium and provides direct services and instruction across the Gulf Coast region.

Funded by the Texas Workforce Commission, ESC Region 6 coordinates and delivers high-quality adult education programs that help learners gain the skills, credentials, and confidence needed to succeed in work, education, and life.

Counties Served

ESC Region 6 supports adult learners in Austin, Colorado, Fort Bend, Harris, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller, and Wharton counties.

Through our direct services and consortium partners, learners can access a wide range of programs, including:

  • Adult Basic Education (ABE) – Strengthen reading, writing, and math skills
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) – Improve English communication for work and daily life
  • High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) Prep – Prepare for and earn your GED certificate
  • Integrated Education and Training (IET) – Combine academics with hands-on career training
