Enrollment Information

Ready to Take the Next Step?

The ESC Region 6 Adult Education and Literacy program offers free classes and training opportunities to help adults reach their goals — whether that’s improving reading and math skills, learning English, earning a GED, or starting a new career path.

Our team is here to guide you through every step of the enrollment process and help you find the program that fits your goals.

How to Enroll

  • Reach out to your nearest Adult Education provider to learn about upcoming orientations, testing dates, and available classes in your area.

  • All new students must attend an orientation session. During orientation, staff will:

    • Explain available programs and class expectations
    • Review eligibility and required documentation
    • Schedule assessment testing

Orientation helps ensure every learner starts in the class that best fits their skill level and goals.

  • Because our programs are funded by Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title II federal funds, participants must meet eligibility requirements under the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA).

During intake, staff will review your citizenship or immigration status and verify eligibility for enrollment.

    Eligibility Requirements

    Who Can Enroll

To participate in federally funded Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) programs, individuals must be one of the following:

    • Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders)
    • Refugees or asylees

  • You may be asked to take an assessment to help us understand your current skill levels. This ensures you are placed in the right class for your learning goals.

  • Once enrollment and assessments are complete, you’ll be matched with a class that fits your schedule and goals.

Classes are available in person and online, depending on your location and provider.
