Students shall be awarded one school credit for successful completion of this course. This course consists of two semesters and is recommended for students in Grades 10-12. This course is provided through the Texas Virtual School Network (TXVSN), which is a dynamic, comprehensive Computer Based Training (CBT) course for the State of Texas. It is taught by teachers that are certified by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC), Web Instructor Certified and specialize in business. Students will be able to recognize, evaluate, and prepare for a rapidly evolving global business environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. Students will analyze the primary functions of management and leadership, which are planning, organizing, staffing, directing or leading, and controlling. Topics will incorporate social responsibility of business and industry. Students will develop a foundation in the economical, financial, technological, international, social, and ethical aspects of business to become competent managers, employees, and entrepreneurs. Students will incorporate a broad base of knowledge that includes the legal, managerial, marketing, financial, ethical, and international dimensions of business to make appropriate management decisions.
