A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to two graduating seniors in Region 6 who plan to major in the field of education.
The scholarship was established by regional administrators at the time of Max Schlotter’s retirement in 1988. He served as an educator for over 40 years and was instrumental in helping to develop the education service center concept in the State. He served as Executive Director for ESC, Region 6 from its inception in 1967 until his retirement.
To be eligible the student must:
- Be a Region 6 graduating senior – December 2013 or May 2014
- Plan to major in education
- Plan to attend a Texas college or university
- Submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher/administrator
- Submit an essay, must be typed
- Complete and submit the attached application form.
Applicants can download the document, save it to their desktop, enter their data, print the document and sign before returning. Handwritten applications will not be considered. This form must be used in order for the applicant to be considered. The completed applications must be returned to Ellen Ratliff at the Education Service Center no later than March 31, 2014. If using the postal service, the application must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2014. The winners will be chosen in April and the school(s) will be notified of the decision.
