ELA and Reading

 

Literacy Assistance is designed to help school districts with awareness, staff development, and technical assistance that improves student performance. The following services are available:

 

  • Research-based awareness designed to improve student performance in literacy areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking
  • Programs such as STAAR Holistic Scoring and Writing Process, STAAR Reading and Writing, and State Developed Professional Development
  • Regional and on-site training and follow-up for effective strategies that aid success in literacy areas: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and alternative assessment
  • Technical assistance to LEA personnel regarding dyslexia requirements
  • Materials information dissemination regarding TEKS/STAAR, specifications for Reading Development Materials, and Dyslexia
  • Training on the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) including follow-up, implementation strategies.
  • Assistance with the implementation of the Accelerated Reading Instructional Program (K-4)
  • Staff development for instructional assistants
  • Professional development and materials information dissemination
  • Effective writing strategies for all students (K-12)
  • Staff Development in dyslexia and related disorders
  • Staff Development for Pre-Kindergarten
  • Staff Development for reading coaches
